“Not only will renewable energy serve a critical role in finding solutions to the problems surrounding energy security and global warming, but it also can be a great opportunity for economic development and education. Even though each source of energy has its upside and downside, we believe that our future energy security and economic health will not be achieved by excluding one source of energy versus another, but by developing a mix that serves our needs at a reasonable cost and without destroying our environment.

Examples of the above are the Harman Stove Company, which has become the leading pellet stove manufacturer in the United States and is presently building a new factory near Harrisburg, PA. Another example is the unlimited biomass potential of our local area and the entire country. We're all familiar with growth of corn-based ethanol and its growth over the last few years. But the potential for other energy crops such as switch grass or wood products in our area is virtually unlimited and exciting.
